Thinking about Mass

We are moving on to science theory which many adults don't understand.

People who run the country say that pupils like you should learn science theory to prepare you for a scientific world.

Thinking about mass includes knowing about gravity, weight, force

  1. The weight of the item varies in different places.
  2.
  3. For example, objects weigh less on the moon where gravity is lower compared to the earth.  See "People ask" here

  4. Mass is the amount of matter more later present in a body while weight is a measure of how strongly gravity pulls on that matter.
  5.
  6. Mass is the same wherever the item might be.

  7. The moon has a surface gravity more later of around 1.62 meters per second squared, more later In comparison, the Earth has a surface gravity of  about 9.8 meters per second squared. . Since the moon's surface gravity is one-sixth of Earth's, this is why astronauts' movements appear bouncier.  source.

  8. This means that, ignoring the effects of air resistance, the speed of an object falling freely will increase by about 9.8 metres (32 ft) per second every second. source

  9. Weight is a force. The weight of an object is its mass times the moving due to gravity.

  10. force is an influence that can cause an object to increase its speed, i.e. accelerate, meaning a change in speed or direction.

Ask yourself: 'what makes the cars accelerate?'

Welcome

Welcome to this science blog..   The aim is that your parents  will  receive this blog  so that you can talk about these science lessons ...
