Let's do the locomotion

  1. This assumes there are different pupils from a year ago.

  2. Good morning children.  One at a time, please tell me your names.

  3. Please stand in a circle and hold the elbows of the pupil in front of you.  

  4. Play "The runaway train is coming over the hill" here.

  5. Let's BE the train.  They rotate a few yards.

  6. OK

  7. Play "Everybody's doing the locomotion" here.  Pupils rotate further.

  8. All stop. Hands down.   Encourage conversation.  

  9. How or why did your arms move?  Listen and reward "energy".

  10. How does the train move?  Listen and reward "energy" and other appropriate terms.

  11. Let's go back to before you started to move your arms.  You held the elbows in front of you.  Now think science.

  12. Can you think about what type of energy it was then?
